This year, Roots & Shoots marks its 35th anniversary with a global social media initiative: the “Tag the World” Challenge. Groups worldwide are showcasing their impactful projects through short videos, inviting others to join the movement and share their own stories of change.
The challenge began in the USA, where the Kinetic Academy Green Team highlighted their butterfly garden and vermicomposting bins, setting the stage for a wave of participation.
Argentina’s Semillero de Primatología Argentino followed, sharing their dedication to primate research, education, and habitat conservation. Their message was clear: understanding these species is the first step toward protecting them.
In South Africa, Grade 6 learners from Boschrand Primary School in Mpumalanga took up the baton. Their video featured the local projects they’ve led.
They passed the challenge to the group Naturschutz2Go in Germany, where an innovative approach to urban biodiversity is taking root. Naturschutz2Go’s contribution is as creative as it is practical. By repurposing old vending machines to dispense insect-friendly flower seeds, they are turning urban spaces into havens for pollinators.
You can be part of “Tag The World” Challenge too.
Sign up to participate in this form, the working group will allocate the next available group / country in this sheet and notify the group / coordinator.
As the challenge continues to spread, one question remains: Which country will be next?
