“Walk of Hope” – Roots & Shoots Germany
The Jane Goodall Institute Germany invited everyone across the country to organise a “Walk of Hope” in memory of Jane Goodall. Their Roots & Shoots group “Big Things for Little Ones”, which has already inspired three new R&S groups near their home, followed this call and held its own “Walk of Hope” on the picturesque Michaelsberg.
“We didn’t have much time to organise the Walk of Hope — as it often is in family life, time is a precious resource. But we wanted to be part of it no matter what, because the Walk meant a great deal to our family. Since Jane’s passing, we’ve asked ourselves how we can continue her legacy”.
The family had the chance to meet Dr. Jane Goodall in person during her last trip to Germany — an encounter that moved them deeply:
“That was a defining moment for us, one we wanted to pass on. That’s why we wanted to remember her during the Walk of Hope, to share her story, and to encourage people around us to walk with us.”
The group was supported by neighbours, friends, and the local amphibian conservation team.
“Many were interested but couldn’t attend due to the short notice. Still, it was a special day — a path full of hope and remembrance.”
With this action, the group “Big Things for Little Ones” showed in a powerful way how Dr. Jane Goodall’s legacy continues to live on — through small actions, strong communities, and a shared hope for a better future.
Together, we carry on Jane’s legacy — because every action counts.
